Our Pre-school is open to all sections of the local community. We do not have a “catchment area” like schools do and so you are free to apply to our Pre-school wherever you live.

To apply for a space at South Hill Park Pre-school for your child you will need to fill in an application form (you can download and print one from here). You then need to send this form to us where it is dealt with by our Office Manager. Please be aware that we do not receive post during school holidays so you would not receive confirmation until term time.

Your child’s name will be placed on a waiting list. We arrange our waiting list according to the date of application (i.e. an earlier date of application puts you higher up the waiting list). Priority is given to siblings. Children over the age of three who are moving from another setting may be given priority if there are afternoon sessions available.

You will receive confirmation of your application by e-mail where possible or in the post. If you have not heard from us within four weeks you may want to give us a call to ensure that your form was received.

We monitor the gender and ethnic background of children joining the group to ensure that our intake is representative of social diversity.

Each term the Office Manager plans the intake for the following term. When your child is next on the waiting list you will receive a telephone call to determine if you still require a space with us. A space will be offered to you verbally and then followed up with a letter. You will be asked to fill in a form to confirm that you wish to accept the space which has been offered. You will normally be invited to attend a “New Parents Induction Evening” which gives you all the information you need when your child starts with us. It also gives you a chance to meet staff and other parents, have a look around and ask any questions you have. You are also required to return a copy of your child’s birth certificate and a non-refundable registration fee which is currently £15.00. This will be used to assist with administration costs. If you do not return the necessary documents and payment by the date specified then your offer of a space is withdrawn and offered to the next person on the waiting list.
